Joe Absolom was born on 16th December 1978 in South-East London. He has one older brother and one younger sister, making him the middle child. He started out his acting career at the age of ten and his first role was in a Peanut Butter advert.
During the first few years of his career he could be seen in UK TV dramas such as "The Bill" and "Silent Witness" but he became well-known when he landed the role of "Matthew Rose" in the popular nighttime soap, "Eastenders", in 1997. Two years later he was involved in the a storyline, which really helped to propel his career.
After leaving "Eastenders" Joe went onto star in a couple of movies before returning to TV dramas in 2002 in "Stan the Man". The following year came two other huge drama series's "Servants" and "P.O.W."
During 2004 Joe joined the cast of "The Long Firm", playing Mark Strong's toyboy in 1960's London; and "Vincent" playing Junior PI Robert. His most successful role has been of Al Large, a Cornish plumber who dreams of a better career in the ITV series "Doc Martin".
In August 2006 Joe became a father for the first time to daughter Lyla. He is currently living with his long-term girlfriend Liz and their daughter.
