Ex-Doc Martin star Joe Absolom has revealed that he chickened out of giving Tony Blair a piece of his mind.

The actor, who played Al Large in the ITV show, said he had planned to grill the former Prime Minister when they appeared together on GMTV.

Teletext quotes him as saying: "I planned to say to Tony, 'Why are we in the war?'

"But when I met him in the studio I just said, 'Wotcha, Tony!'"
